About the event

This project will close the Meadow Creek Trail and Parking Lot from May 19 to August 2 – the trail will be closed from the trailhead to the Lilly Pad Lake junction. There will be a “Type 3 Barrier” on the traffic circle to keep traffic out. The trail may be opened on weekends, TBD.

In June the USFS, with some ESWA help, will spend 4 weeks preparing the check steps. This includes using a grader to get the area ready for steps.  Later in July, two RMYC crews will complete the steps, with help from ESWA.

Check steps are 12- and 16-foot 8x8 timbers secured by rebar. ESWA purchased these in the fall and they have been drying over the winter. The June work will include leveling out the trail tread from the trailhead to the Lilly Pad Lake trail, and cutting areas for the check step timbers, cutting dips for water flow, and preparing for a culvert. Also, during this period, the timbers will be transported to their location.  In July, the check steps will be installed and the tread repair.

RMYC will have two 10 person crews on site for three weeks starting July 15.

June ESWA work will include:

·      Light Prep

·      Staging Rock for steps and fill.

·      Carrying timbers

July ESWA work will include:

·      Tread work

·      Hand work

·      Rock Crushing

·      Filling steps

ESWA dates: June 13, June 27, July 10, July 17.
